Bits O Bogguss
  • Hates bananas. She doesn't even like to be in the same room with ripe ones.

  • Loves raspberries. She grows them in her garden and goes to great lengths to protect them from insects and birds.

  • Is deathly afraid of snakes. She has been known to utter obscenities that would make a sailor blush when surprised by one.
  • Loves cats and dogs. Her current dog, Isabella, was abandoned at a truck stop and Suzy brought her home on the bus.

  • Hates to shop for clothes. Her road manager has to shame her into finding different stagewear after he's looked at the same outfits up to three years running.

  • Has an uncanny memory for numbers. She can tell you every telephone number she's ever had, what city she performed in on this date last year, and the birthday of everyone in her elementary school class.

  • Cannot for the life of her remember to turn the oven off, or where she has put her car keys.

  • Discovered she could sing harmony to any melody line when she was in the sixth grade.

  • Has perfect pitch, which isn't always an advantage because "your whole life you listen to everything and it hurts your ears."

  • Is a gourmet cook.

  • Likes to eat creamed corn out of the can.

  • Grew up in a three-bedroom house in a family with four kids. Her mom was a secretary, her dad worked in a factory, and they managed to get three kids through college. Today all four are successful professionals. Suzy received a bachelor's degree in metalsmithery from Illinois State University.

  • Was a cheerleader all through junior high and high school, but her high school football team did not win a single game during her entire career.

  • Was homecoming queen.

  • Played drums in the school band (as did all her siblings) because the school provided the instruments and they couldn't afford to buy their own.  She always had bruises on the top of her legs from marching with a snare drum banging against her.

  • Has one extremely harsh critic:  her four year old, Ben. His most seething review: "Mommy, please don't yodel."
