Suzy's closing 2009 White Christmas Show Airs on WSM
12/23/2009

Suzy's fourth Christmas show at Nashville's Loveless Barn was featured on WSM 650 AM and WSMOnline.   Eddie Stubbs hosted and participated in the show as well.   Suzy wandered the crowd during several Christmas songs with a wireless mike including unsuspecting audience members in the show and broadcast.  All four shows were sold out.  WSM and the Loveless Barn team up for the Music City Roots broadcast which airs on shows throughout the year and added the Wednesday night show to the WSM schedule so that folks could experience a live Suzy Bogguss Christmas show.

While not your typical carefully cooreographed radio broadcast it gave anyone that hasn't seen a Suzy show of late, a good taste of how much fun they can be.  Even more so when its a Christmas show where she can pull audience members into the action.   For those that were unable to make it to Nashville for one of the shows, the broadcast was a wonderful last minute Christmas present. The only thing better than listening to the show on WSM would have been to see video too.  Well, while no video clips have yet to surface, there is a review of one of the shows and a slide show now on-line.

The 4th show's set list varied some from the one published above, but was similar and was no doubt adjusted slightly for the radio schedule.  In addition to Eddie Stubs contributions, Suzy was joined by .Pat Bergeson on Guitar, Will Barrow on Piano/keyboards, Charlie Chadwick on Bass, Matt Combs on Mandolin& Fiddle, and Harry Stinson on Drums.  Suzy also included dancers Barry and Dari Anne Amato to add some wonderfully flowing movement to the show.  Suzy's husband, Doug Crider also joined her on stage for their Baby its Cold Outside duet.

For an example of Barry and Dari Anne Amato's talents check out this fun YouTube link. and check out  their website at: www.barryamato.com

Big thanks to the Loveless Cafe for hosting Suzy's Christmas shows and for WSM and their sponsors for sharing the evening far beyond the walls of the Loveless Barn.   We hope there are plans for a repeat of this string of shows in years to come so more folks can enjoy the fun in the town Suzy calls home.

Suzy's Country Christmas at the Loveless Barn
10/28/2009
Nashville, TN

Have yourself a merry little Christmas this holiday season. Come out to the Loveless Barn from December 20 through December 23 to enjoy home cooked southern hospitality with some holiday cheer as Suzy Bogguss brings her Country Christmas Show to the Loveless Barn in Nashville, TN..    The Barn is a recent addition to the original Loveless Cafe/Motel facility. While the Motel has been converted to the Loveless shops, the "Barn" is a fabulous addition to the site and capable of hosting a large variety of events.

In past years, Suzy has performed Christmas shows at a variety of venues on the road, most recently at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, CO.. This year she's sticking closer to home with four nights at the Loveless Barn.  The last time folks in Nashville could catch Suzy's Christmas was at the Belcourt Theater a few years back.  For those that might be visiting Nashville and/or the Opryland hotel complex for the Christmas festivities, there are several chances to join Suzy and her band for some great tunes,  "group participation" on some familiar Christmas tunes, and according to Suzy a "Big Fun, Gloriously Barnish" evening.

From the Loveless Cafe page: Bring the whole family December 20 through the 23 and enjoy dinner from the world famous Loveless Cafe and a show featuring Suzy Boguss and friends complete with a visit by Old St. Nick himself.  Come out for a good cause as we donate back to two local non-profit organizations Second Harvest Food Bank and All About Women. Tickets go on sale December 1st at 10 a.m. and can be reserved by calling 615.646.9700 Ext. 4.

Suzy To Appear at New Don Gibson Theater 12/12/2009
11/08/2009

The State Theatre, an Art Deco gem, opened its doors as the area's most beautifully appointed movie house on October 27th, 1939.  Reborn 70 years later as the Don Gibson Theatre, the 400 seat venue will act primarily as a very intimate concert hall. Thanks to a group called Destination Cleveland County, this Shelby, NC theater in the home town of Don Gibson opens its doors November 13th/14th for its first shows.  Marty Stuart has already sold out the November 21st show and we're expecting Suzy will receive and equally enthusiastic reception when she appears at the theater on December 12th.

Suzy Photo Goes for the BIG bucks on Ebay.
October 26, 2009

We've heard of the occasional listing on EBAY of Suzy's first LP "Suzy" and to what length some fans have gone to win this rare collector's item.  Well, apparently there are still plenty of folks that keep their eyes open for a rare Suzy item to show up on the auction site.  This photo, likely from Suzy's early days with Capitol records was recently listed on Ebay and brought the seller a tidy $102.50.  Of course, given that this is the first time we've seen this photo, its not surprising that the bidders and the new owner found it a "must have" piece of memorabilia.

CONGRATULATIONS to the winning bidder!   (no, we didn't even come close to winning this auction :^)

Summer Road Trip: The Lost Webisodes
7/24/2009
Suzy, Doug, Ben and Loren have been regularly posting Webisodes from their travels.  So far we've seen quite a number of breath taking sites and learned of several adventures we'll be adding to any trips we take to the same areas in the future.   We've also been exposed to group's sense of humor which is nicely threaded through out the videos.  Suzy's Summer adventure even turned up on blog.cmt.com recently.

BUT if you've been following along, you probably noticed that Webisode 8 and 13 seem to be missing.  Well, we still haven't found number 8 (the Lost Webisode) but  Webisode 13, "Tetons Part 1" does indeed exist but hasn't yet gotten linked into the Road Trip page at www.suzybogguss.com or the album at Vimeo.  No matter.... Webisode 13 can be found at: http://www.vimeo.com/5730579
NOTE (8/3/2009): Webisode 13 is now part of the vimeo list.  You can watch them all by clicking the Road Trip Quick link button on the front page or clicking here.

This is one you don't want to miss.  Near the end, Suzy is practicing her skills learned in getting her degree in Metal Smithing (ART) at Illinois State University. Check out the tools she's using!

Click on the "Road Trip" button above to visit the suzybogguss.com road trip page and don't forget to also check out Webisode 13.  If we ever find Webisode 8, we'll post the link to it here too. :^)

Suzy Announces Summer Road Trip Tour (May/June newsletter 6/5/2009)
(aka: The Chinook Trail Tour)
6/5/2009 (updated 7/2, 7/7)
Quoting Suzy's Newsletter:

While I was in Moab, UT last February I started thinking about my early traveling days in my Toyota Chinook. It made me want to feel the freedom of wandering through the Rockies again, just playing here and there. So... Doug, our son Ben, Ben's friend Loren, our dogs Zoe and Kibbles and I are heading west for July. Along the way we hope to visit some of our favorite National Parks in our rented RV and we've set up a few solo shows for me along the way to help me relive my early days of performing.

I hope you keep checking the web site for updates. I'll give you more info as it unfolds. We're doing most of it by the seat of our pants. One fun thing will be that all of the humans will be recording video for webisodes. Should make for some "colorful" adventures!

  www.suzybogguss.com/tour.asp
(We also hope to keep the Bogguss.com Tour page up to date as well)

I'm really excited about this - it's a dream come true for me!

 Stay tuned -

7/7/2009
Brian Clough of the North Eastern UK's Smooth Radio interviewed the WWS Gals at the end of their tour in May and aired the hour and half super spot in June.   Brian & his team have decided that once was great fun but what would be better than getting to hear the interview again or even better, for the first time if you missed out when it first aired.   Sooooo. The interview piece was broken into 5 segments and beginning Monday July 13th, each successive segment  will be added to Brian's Clough's Country site at euVue.co.uk so you can enjoy a little bit of Wine, Women and Song each day.    After the segments have all have been uploaded, the interview will be available in an archive section for some time.

Suzy Part of Opry Classic's Tribute to Chet Atkins and
Crook & Chase Tribute program
5/30/2009
On Thursday June 18th, the Grand Ole Opry hosted a tribute to the late Chet Atkins.  Larry Gatlin hsted the Thursday Opry tribute which was just two days prior to what would have been Chet's 85th birthday.  Steve Wariner was a featured guest along with Suzy.  Wariner, who played in Chet's band and was signed to RCA and produced by Atkins released a new album  My tribute to Chet Atkins on Tuesday June 22nd

Suzy reminised about her friendship with Chet and performed several songs including Mr Sandmand, Let It Be Me and I Still Miss Someone which was on her 1994 CD with Chet, Simpatico.  She was also part of the June 25th Crook and Chase show which also included Wariner, short clips from the Opry show, and several classic television appearances paying tribute to Chet Atkins.    For both appearances Suzy wore a necklace which was a present from Chet as a thank you for helping the very pratical Atkins with Christmas shopping for the his wife, daughter, etc.   On Crook and Chase Suzy recounts producing the SImpatico album and being in the position of telling Atkins she thought he should give a track another try.   While challenging for Suzy at the time, its not hard to imagine how much both artists enjoyed the experience of creating the classic CD.

Check out the You Tube clips section of the front page for links to Suzy's segment of the Opry Show.

Suzy Returns to Aledo for Rhubarb Festival Concert: June 6 th
5/30/2009
This year's Rhubarb Festival in Aledo, Ill. will also be a homecoming for Suzy.  The festival, Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th, will include a concert by Suzy and her band at the Aledo Band shell Stage. AND thanks to the organizers of the festival the concert will have free admission.   The Band shell is near the historical county courthouse in Aledo.
Please visit the Tour page or the
www.AledoMainStreet.com 18th Annual Rhubarb Festival page for more information on this special event! A map is available at the festival website.

Lead by Suzy's long time friend and early musical mentor, Bob Applegate, Peoria's Applegate & CO will be opening for Suzy.   The evening's entertainment is scheduled to start at 7:15 PM.

For those that might not know, Suzy grew up in Aledo and performed in High School musicals as well as the HS band before heading off to college for a degree in art.  Her interest in performing was sparked with the opportunity to sing/play in local clubs during those years in Bloomington/Normal and truly marked the beginnings of her future as a Country Music Star.
Suzy's last public visit to Aledo was back in September of 2005 when she was the Grand Marshal of the Aledo Sesquicentennial Celebration parade.

Suzy also did a Rhubarb Festival TV Commercial viewable at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGHy7RID2uU

5/30/2009
This Years Rhubarb Festival in the Official Rhubarb Capital of Illinois, Suzy's home town of Aledo, was a huge success.   Ending with Suzy's concert on Saturday Night, the festival drew a huge and possibly record crowd.  Aledo was even able to detour State Highway 17 which passed through town next to Central Park so that folks attending the concert could spill out into the highway and across the street to the courthouse lawn.   Suzy stayed until well after 11 PM saying hi to all those that decided to hang in there for a chance to welcome back their home town girl, introduce their kids/grandkids to Suzy, and reminis just a bit.    Suzy marveled at the turn out and how many in the crowd she knew.  Even the skies, which of late have been rolling with rain and thunderstorms, convinced the clouds to quit their squabling and crying long enough to provide blue skies for the afternoon festivities and the hometown sweetheart's return.

Photo Album Page is now up:   www.bogguss.com/2009/Photos/Aledo_p0906

Red River Valley lyrics
5/2/2009
SIn addition to Eat At Joes, Suzy has been asking the crowd sing along on Red River Valley of late. We thought we'd provide some of the lyrics so you could be prepared for you next Suzy encounter.

Verse 1: From this valley they say you are leaving
I (we) will miss your Bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brighten our path ways awhile
Chorus: Come and sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the one who has loved you so true.
Verse 2: For a long time my darling I have waited
For the sweet words you never would say
Now at last all my fond hopes have vanished
For they say that you're going away
Repeat Chorus ...

Suzy sent out a March Newsletter this past week.   If you haven't signed up for her newsletter, just click on the "Suzy Mailing List" button (above) to sign up today!   Suzy included a story about a very special archive of her early TV appearances and has posted 3 clips.  There were direct links in the Newsletter or you can now click on the Suzy TV button to see them at Suzy's youtube.com page.  The clips include Somewhere Between (with Merle Haggard) , Someday Soon (with Delber McClinton), and Something Up My Sleeve (the ACM Duet medley with Billy Dean).

Suzy in 2 places at once?
This past weekend's (March 7th) broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion featuring Suzy.  It was a composite show from a couple of last year's shows and is worth a listen.
Suzy' plays a tonally challenged singer, Melody Marsh, as part of the Guy Noir skit
 and performs several songs.
Suzy got word that she was being heard from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota as she was preparing to take the stage with her band  for a wonderful evening at the historic and beautifully restored Paramount Theater in Abilene, Texas
